In case you haven’t noticed already, Giant Bomb has had a relaunch of sorts. It is now a fully-functioning site rather than a blog. Think of it as a sort of IMDb/Wikipedia for video games. Unlike most other video games sites this one is heavily community focused with lots of user-generated content. It’s certainly worth a look and their weekly podcast – Giant Bombcast – is one of the best around.
Summer Games Drought July 20, 2008

As you have probably noticed by now, the Summer Games Droughtâ„¢ is pretty much in full effect with Unreal Tournament 3 on the 360 being the last significant release. I’ve got no problems though since a lack of new releases = more time for me to revisit my backlog of PS2 titles I bought which includes Mercenaries, God of War 2, Shadow of the Colossus and Fahrenheit. I’ve also got Okami Wii and my brand new black DS Lite along with all the games I have missed for that. So I’m pretty much sorted then.

In a somewhat surprising move Capcom have announced a Wii port of Dead Rising. Famitsu scans can be seen at Wii @ Everyday. Some translated info:
- RE4 Wii sold well so Capcom is porting DR
- As much as possible Capcom will match the 360 look
- Is taking into mind casual gamers’ needs
- Playable w/ Wiimote and nunchuck. There are waggle attacks similar to RE4 Wii
- Says they changed the camera to the RE4 behind the back view
- Also, new boss confirmed and some weapon changes
- Doesn’t sound like they can announce all the new stuff just yet
RE4-style Dead Rising sounds good to me.

Some of the stuff they showed:
- New Resistance 2 footage that was rather impressive
- Ratched & Clank PSN game
- More Killzone 2 footage (actual gameplay this time!)
- A Little Big Planet level showing Sony’s sales figures
- inFAMOUS trailer
- God of War III teaser
Is it just me or have Sony been showing the same stuff at E3 for the past 2-3 years?

- Wii MotionPlus peripheral which allows 1:1 motion control
- Animal Crossing: City Folk
- Wii Speak – basically a microphone that sits on top of your TV to allow online voice chat
- Wii Sports Resort – themed around beach sports and uses the aformentioned MotionPlus
- …
And thats pretty much all that is worth talking about. Nothing at all for the hardcore gamer – StarFox, Kid Icarus? Probably one of the worst E3 conferences I’ve ever seen from one of the big 3. Pretty pathetic really.

Best controls of any console FPS ever. Also, that intro music is brilliant.
